Report On Praise Fest 2012
Praise Fest was a blast!!! The Lord used the day to bless the Tyler, TX community and allow TNT to connect, a huge part of our vision.
The day started out extremely windy. Nothing stayed on the booth tables and it was impossible to set up our banner stand. However, with the help of a few bricks (seen in the picture) we secured everything and the winds eventually calmed down.
The event began at noon and lasted till 8pm. Mark, the DJ, put in a plug from the stage for each of the organizations present several times. We passed out packets of our newly printed materials and received revenue for TNT by selling African jewelry. One of the best parts is that Praise Fest will keep growing every year and TNT can remain involved due to our contacts.
I particularly appreciated Deana's presence as she is a bit of a saleswoman and made connections I could not. Bereket also manned our booth and helped with the setup. Each of us enjoyed ourselves and a day focused on the Lord.
Yesterday Yosef sent word that his little boy, Dawit, is much improved but they will go for a medical check-up next week. Yosef is finishing seminary exams this week so keep him in mind as he's been quite stressed.
Next week Yosef and Elizabeth will compile information about supplies needed for the children's ministry at their church. Right now they have no resources to use in teaching the word of God to these beautiful children. If you're interested in donating supplies or funds to support the spiritual growth of Christian refugee children who will someday impact their world, let me know by emailing email@example.com.
Have a blessed weekend!
Thanks to Bereket for all his revisions on
our new and improved logo! And thanks to
Casey Brown who helped with some of the
last minute editing!
While fellowshipping with other believers on Saturday night, I was introduced to Travis White, Executive Director of Mission Tyler. As a result of our brief conversation about TNT and his work at mission Tyler, he invited me to attend City Gate this Tuesday, April 17th. City Gate is a weekly meeting sponsored by Mission Tyler that allows nonprofits and churches in Tyler to gather and discuss outreach. By working together our ministries can become more effective.
I look forward to meeting brothers and sisters in Christ tomorrow evening at City Gate. Pray that we will be able to be a support to one another.
Last Monday Dawit, Yosef's three year old son, was hit by a matatu, a form of Kenyan public transportation. The matatu (bus) was breaking and stopped on impact instead of rolling over little Dawit and his aunt who was with him. Dawit suffered a fractured skull, swelling, and was unconscious for almost 24 hours.
Please pray for Dawit and his aunt. They are both doing much better and are at home after a few days in the hospital.
Join with us in praising the Lord that he protected their lives and enabled Yosef and Elizabeth's church in Nairobi to encourage and support them during this time.
Yet another reason to give thanks to God! TNT has been invited to set up a booth at a praise festival in Tyler, TX.
On April 28th, Praise Fest 2012: Saved By The Blood will take place at The Arbor in Tyler from approximately noon to 6 pm. Various bands will lead worshipers in praise throughout the day and booths representing Christian organizations will be present to provide information on their ministries. More information can be found here.
Come out and support TNT while worshiping Jesus for what He has done in your life! What could be a more worthwhile use of your time!
Ps. 34:3 "O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together!" (NASB)
Things have been exciting this past week for TNT! TNT spoke to three different groups and the religion writer of the Tyler Morning Telegraph wrote an article about TNT in the Saturday Feb 25, 2012 edition. You can access it by clicking here.
Last night Deana and I spoke on TNT's behalf at a cell group here in Tyler, TX. During the course of the evening the Lord blessed both TNT, Deana and I personally through this group. TNT received a $25/month commitment and also made a connection with a local newspaper. I was asked to represent TNT to SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) on the University of Texas at Tyler’s campus this Wednesday, 02/22/12. These students take on volunteer projects helping the community with their business and marketing skills.
I intend to keep attending the Montalvo cell group to fellowship with these committed brothers and sisters in Christ.
